Dietary Supervisor
Rate: $19 Per Hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dietary Supervisor is responsible for the daily operational oversight of the food service department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality nutritional services to residents, employees, and visitors. This role involves the direct supervision of dietary staff, coordination of food preparation and service, and adherence to established dietary plans and sanitary regulations. The Dietary Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a positive and productive work environment while ensuring the provision of meals that meet nutritional needs and preferences. In situations where staffing may be limited, this role may also involve direct participation in food preparation and service to ensure continuity of operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Supervises and directs the activities of dietary staff, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to established procedures.
Oversees the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring they meet quality standards, dietary requirements, and are served according to schedule.
Ensures strict adherence to all sanitary regulations governing the handling, preparation, and serving of food, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Assists in the implementation and monitoring of regular and therapeutic diets as directed by dietary guidelines or a Registered Dietitian.
Monitors food inventory levels and communicates needs for ordering to ensure adequate supplies.
Trains and orients new dietary staff on departmental procedures and safety protocols.
Maintains accurate records related to food production, service, and staff schedules as required.
Provides input into staff performance evaluations and participates in addressing performance issues as needed.
Concerns themself with the safety of all facility residents by actively working to minimize fire and accident risks. Ensures the facility's adherence to relevant legal, safety, health, fire, and sanitation codes, understanding their role in emergency preparedness plans and current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Contributes to a resident-centered environment by fostering positive interactions with residents and ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are addressed with care and respect.
May participate directly in food preparation and service tasks as needed to ensure adequate coverage and maintain operational efficiency, particularly in the absence of dedicated cook positions.
Performs other duties as requested to support the overall effective operation of the dietary department.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in culinary services, food management, or a related field is preferred.
Food Service Certification as required by regulatory agencies.
JOB SKILLS:
Working knowledge of basic principles of dietetics, food sanitation, and service. Familiarity with large-scale food preparation and service techniques.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to motivate and direct staff.
Ability to understand and follow standardized recipes and dietary instructions.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and other stakeholders.
Basic computer skills may be required for record-keeping and communication.
Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
