Position Summary:
Ensure accuracy and quality of documentation required to complete MDS, Care Plans, PRIs, Medicare and/or other insurance forms in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
Essential Functions:
1. Coordinate MDS completion with in required time frame.
2. Follow and complete assignments as given by Director/Assistant Director of Resident Assessment.
3. Complete Nursing sections of the MDS with accuracy and within time frame/regulations.
4. Obtain information from nurses, c.n.a.s, families, and residents as it pertains to MDS completion.
5. Participate in meeting that affect documentation systems.
6. Participate in surveys/inspections by authorized governmental agencies.
7. Make written/oral recommendations to Director/Assistant Director as necessary/required.
8. Resolve issues concerning clinical data required for completion of assessments and care plans
9. Participate in CMI and perform CMI rounds
10. Keep current on regulatory changes relating to MDS.
11. Complete MDSs as assigned.
12. Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Resident Assessment and/or Administrator.
Qualifications:
Must be an RN licensed in the state of NY
Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
3+ years MDS coordinator experience
Must be knowledgeable in MDS/CAAs/CCP process. Must be experienced in the use of the Nursing Process including assessment and documentation.
Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement guidelines and qualifiers.
Minimum of 3 years experience in long term healthcare
Knowledge of CMI program
RAC-CT through an approved program
