Director of Recreation to lead our Recreation Department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about enhancing the quality of life for residents through meaningful activities, engagement programs, and community involvement.
As the Director of Recreation, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive recreation program that promotes residents' physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual well-being.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct all recreational, social, cultural, and therapeutic activities for residents.
- Develop and maintain a monthly activities calendar that meets the diverse interests and needs of residents.
- Conduct resident assessments and develop individualized recreation care plans.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations related to recreation services.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Recreation Department staff.
- Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, entertainment, and community engagement programs.
- Collaborate with residents, families, nursing staff, social services, and interdisciplinary team members to enhance resident satisfaction.
- Maintain activity documentation and participation records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage department budgets, supplies, and vendor relationships.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and resident-centered environment throughout the facility.
- Participate in care plan meetings, quality assurance initiatives, and survey preparation activities.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
- Prior experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility, Long-Term Care, Assisted Living, or Rehabilitation setting required.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop innovative and engaging programs for a diverse resident population.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing recreational services in healthcare settings.
