A Skilled Nursing Facility is seeking an organized, dependable Staffing Coordinator to manage nursing schedules and help ensure appropriate staffing coverage. The ideal candidate is proactive, communicates well, and remains calm while managing call-outs and last-minute scheduling changes.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly nursing schedules
Ensure adequate staffing coverage based on census, acuity, and facility needs
Respond to call-outs and coordinate replacement coverage promptly
Monitor overtime, staffing levels, attendance, and agency utilization
Maintain accurate employee availability and scheduling records
Verify staff credentials and required documentation before scheduling
Assist with onboarding and scheduling newly hired nursing employees
Coordinate with Nursing Administration, Human Resources, Payroll, and department leaders
Communicate schedule updates clearly and professionally
Prepare staffing reports and identify recurring coverage needs
Help maintain compliance with applicable staffing requirements and facility policies
Participate in an on-call rotation and provide weekend or holiday support when needed
Qualifications
Previous staffing or scheduling experience required
Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care community, healthcare setting, or nursing department strongly preferred
Knowledge of nursing schedules, shift coverage, overtime management, and staffing practices
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic scheduling or timekeeping systems
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
