Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Skilled Nursing FacilityCortlandt Healthcare About the Role:Cortlandt Healthcare is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated nursing leader to join our team as an Assistant Director of Nursing. This position plays an important role in supporting the Director of Nursing with daily clinical oversight, staff development, and maintaining regulatory compliance within our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate is someone who is hands-on, solution-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality resident care.
Position Overview:In this leadership role, the ADON will assist in guiding nursing operations, strengthening clinical processes, and ensuring that care delivery meets all applicable regulatory and quality standards. This individual will also help foster a positive work environment, support staff performance, and contribute to ongoing facility improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities: - Work in partnership with the Director of Nursing to oversee nursing department operations
- Provide support with staff scheduling, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education
- Ensure adherence to state, federal, and facility clinical guidelines and standards
- Promote ongoing survey preparedness through audits, education, and follow-up actions
- Monitor documentation practices for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Track key clinical indicators such as infections, skin integrity issues, falls, and hospital transfers
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support resident-centered care planning
- Offer leadership support to unit managers and nursing staff across shifts
- Address resident and family concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Participate in quality improvement activities and regulatory compliance programs
Qualifications: Required: - Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- 2-4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a skilled nursing setting
- Strong understanding of long-term care regulations and clinical operations
- Experience guiding nursing teams and supporting day-to-day workflow
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
Preferred: - Previous experience as an ADON or in a similar leadership role
- Background in survey readiness and regulatory compliance responses
- Familiarity with MDS coordination and interdisciplinary care planning
