FLSA: Exempt [X] [ ] Non-Exempt Cook (1199 Union Position) General Summary: The main purpose of the AM Cook is to provide fresh, healthy, nutritious food for all residents in the community. The AM Cook is also responsible to provide quality meals that fit all regulatory requirements on alldiet restrictions and modifications regarding texture, allergies, resident preferences.
Cook (1199 Union Position) Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions1. Patient Satisfaction/ Food Quality
§ Food Production based on recipes provided.
§ Maintaining a clean sanitary kitchen at all times.
§ Preparing modified foods correctly, ensuring palatability for pureed food/ food consistencies are correct for all modified diets.
§ Ensuring food taste great for residents living in the community
§ Making sure food is served hot and in a timely manor based on scheduled meal times
§ The food being served has an appropriate garnish to enhance plate presentation
2. Organization
§ Maintain organization throughout shift
§ Prioritize day appropriately
3. Teamwork
§ Assists other team members when necessary. Asks for help when necessary
§ Assists management in anyway conducive to the efficient operations of the food service department
4. Communication
§ Solid communication to supervisor of where we are at in the given meal service, communicates if they are running behind or if something is needed for that day's meal service.
§ Active listening skills to give full attention during team member huddles
§ Caring attitude when resident complaints are reported, takes initiative to fix the problem for the residents moving forward
