Recreation Director to lead our Activities/Recreation Department and create meaningful, engaging experiences for our residents.
The Recreation Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing a dynamic recreation program that promotes
socialization, independence, emotional well-being, and quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive recreation program tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of our residents.
- Develop a diverse calendar of daily and weekly activities, including games, arts and crafts, music, entertainment, exercise, social events, educational programs, and outings.
- Ensure activities are appropriate for residents with varying cognitive, physical, and functional abilities.
- Encourage resident participation and identify opportunities to increase engagement.
- Lead and supervise Recreation/Activities staff and ensure appropriate coverage and programming.
- Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, birthday parties, entertainment, and community activities.
- Develop strong relationships with residents and families and incorporate resident preferences into programming.
- Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Therapy, Dietary, and other departments to support resident-centered care.
- Maintain accurate activity documentation, calendars, attendance records, and other required records.
- Participate in care planning and provide input regarding residents' recreational and psychosocial needs.
- Coordinate with outside entertainers, vendors, volunteers, schools, community organizations, and other partners.
- Ensure the Recreation Department remains compliant with applicable regulatory and facility requirements.
- Monitor resident satisfaction and continuously look for ways to improve the activity program.
- Maintain a welcoming, positive, and engaging environment throughout the facility.
Qualifications- Previous experience in recreation, activities, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
- Prior experience working in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, assisted living facility, or senior living setting strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Creative, energetic, compassionate, and personable.
- Ability to work effectively with seniors and individuals with cognitive and physical limitations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively.
- Knowledge of person-centered care and senior activities preferred.
